The sleeves of her garment contain an abundance of seeds, and as the wind blows the seeds will be scattered to take root where they may. She is not concerned whether they land on the soil or on the rocks—she is just spreading them everywhere in sheer celebration of life and love.
— Osho Zen Tarot: excerpt from Queen of Rainbows / Flowering card
One of the few things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time. Do not hoard what seems good... Anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you. You open your safe and find ashes.
— Annie Dillard, The Writing Life p78

Do we want to scatter seeds or ashes?

We can hold onto the words and ideas until we reach that imagined finish line where it's all figured out and neatly slotted together. And believing we're not yet there, that there's some critical step missing, we can keep on holding until we're left with only ashes.

Or we can choose creative abandon.

Scatter the words and ideas early and freely. Seeds are just the germ of a possible something, not even a sprout to show what they may become. We can let them fly out into the world imperfect and unresolved, and let the seeds find their way.
